As the days get shorter and the leaves start to fall, it\u2019s time to embrace autumn, and with it, Halloween. It\u2019s easy to get caught up in all the costumes and candy, but it\u2019s important not to get carried away and remember, safety first, scares second!<\/p>\n

To help make your Halloween hauntingly fun and worry-free, here are our spooktacular safety tips:<\/p>\n

  1. When shopping for children\u2019s costumes and costume accessories for Halloween, make sure you check that they have the CE mark. Children\u2019s Halloween costumes must carry the CE mark visibly on the costume or its packaging. The CE mark indicates that the costume meets the required safety regulations.

  2. If you\u2019re decorating your house, check your spooky bits and bobs for small detachable parts. Anything smaller than a \u20ac2 coin could be a choking hazard, so don\u2019t leave anything detachable where small hands could find them.<\/li>\n
  3. If you are buying props for your child\u2019s costume, these may not be classified as toys or meet the safety requirements or standards for toys. Make sure that costume accessories are made of soft flexible materials.<\/li>\n
  4. Be careful with candles in your home, especially around Halloween costumes as there is always a risk of costumes catching fire. It is safer to use battery-operated candles instead of lit ones.<\/li>\n
  5. Explain the dangers of illegal fireworks, sparklers and bonfires to children and teenagers. Make sure you stay a safe distance from bonfires and fireworks.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
