Easter is here and you may be wondering what free or low-cost family friendly things you can do. There are loads of egg-cellent activities happening across the country which won\u2019t burn a hole in your pocket! Here\u2019s a sample of what you and the family can get up to.<\/p>\n

Work out a budget<\/h2>\n

Check out local activities and events<\/h2>\n

There are plenty of Easter events that your family can enjoy, many of which are free, or low-cost. Lots of public attractions such as museums, heritage sites and pet farms run Easter egg hunts and other activities for children. Ask around to see if any of these are planned in your area and sign your kids up.<\/p>\n

A trip to the cinema is always a treat for the whole family \u2013 especially if the weather isn\u2019t good. Many cinemas run kids clubs with tickets at reduced prices.<\/p>\n

Visit your local library and encourage your children to take home some books. Museums and galleries are also great, as lots of them are free. They have exhibitions and events running over the holidays. You might like to catch one of these family fun events<\/a> happening across the country.<\/p>\n

Stay at home<\/h2>\n

Some days, you may decide to stay at home, but that doesn’t mean your family has to be bored. You could spend some time playing a favourite game or reading a story with your children.<\/p>\n

Have an Easter arts and crafts day. Help the kids decorate eggs, or make Easter bonnets or bunny masks. You could even organise your own egg hunt \u2013 buy a few chocolates or toy eggs and hide them around the house or garden. The kids will have lots of fun searching for them and you might be able to have a well-earned cup of coffee while they\u2019re occupied!<\/p>\n

Enjoy the outdoors<\/h2>\n

Stick to the Easter theme and go egg-rolling, or hold egg-and-spoon races! Head for your local park or woods and let the kids race each other.<\/p>\n

Kites are great for a windy day and they can be bought very cheaply. If you\u2019re feeling very creative, you and the kids can even have a go at making one yourselves!<\/p>\n

If the weather allows, take a trip to the beach. Most of us are lucky enough to live within driving distance of the Irish coastline. We\u2019re also spoiled for choice in Ireland with forest parks and recreation sites, find out about our national attractions and activities on Coillte<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For something a bit closer to home, bring the kids to your local playground. It\u2019s a free and easy way to keep them entertained, get a bit of exercise and fresh air and let them meet other children.<\/p>\n
