{"id":7703,"date":"2015-11-18T11:57:21","date_gmt":"2015-11-18T11:57:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ccpc.ie\/business\/?p=7703"},"modified":"2017-05-15T12:59:45","modified_gmt":"2017-05-15T11:59:45","slug":"commission-comreg-sign-cooperation-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ccpc.inventise.ie\/business\/commission-comreg-sign-cooperation-agreement\/","title":{"rendered":"Commission and ComReg sign cooperation agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On the 11th November 2015 the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (\u2018the Commission\u2019) and the Commission for Communications Regulation (\u2018ComReg\u2019) signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/ccpc.inventise.ie\/business\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/04\/2015-11-11-CCPC-ComReg-Cooperation-Agreement.pdf\">cooperation agreement<\/a> in relation to our consumer protection functions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis agreement paves the way for increased engagement between the Commission and ComReg on consumer protection issues. Through the exchange of information we will have a greater ability to take a co-ordinated approach to consumer protection issues in the Irish telecoms market\u201d said Commission Chair Isolde Goggin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe agreement will allow the Commission and ComReg to make the best use of available resources and ensure consistency between our actions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Section 19 of the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/eli\/2014\/act\/29\/section\/19\/enacted\/en\/html#sec19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Competition and Consumer Protection Act 2014<\/a> (2014 Act) allows the Commission to enter into agreements with certain prescribed bodies to facilitate co-operation in relation to (i) consumer protection and welfare issues, or (ii) issues of competition between undertakings.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first co-operation agreement the Commission has entered into under Section 19 of the 2014 Act.<\/p>\n<p>There are two existing cooperation agreements (dating from 2002 and 2008) in place between the Commission and ComReg in relation to competition issues.\u00a0 These agreements were entered into by the Competition Authority and ComReg and they remain in effect.<\/p>\n<p>More details are available <a href=\"https:\/\/ccpc.inventise.ie\/business\/about\/co-operation\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; On the 11th November 2015 the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (\u2018the Commission\u2019) and the Commission for Communications Regulation (\u2018ComReg\u2019) signed a cooperation &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":113,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"_relevanssi_hide_post":"","_relevanssi_hide_content":"","_relevanssi_pin_for_all":"","_relevanssi_pin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_unpin_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_keywords":"","_relevanssi_related_include_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_exclude_ids":"","_relevanssi_related_no_append":"","_relevanssi_related_not_related":"","_relevanssi_related_posts":"","_relevanssi_noindex_reason":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[4,84],"class_list":["post-7703","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-about","tag-consumer-rights"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.6 -
