{"id":49169,"date":"2025-04-17T15:41:44","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T14:41:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ccpc.inventise.ie\/business\/?p=49169"},"modified":"2025-04-17T16:12:15","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T15:12:15","slug":"ccpc-opens-full-investigation-into-dalata-hotel-groups-proposed-acquisition-of-cg-hotels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ccpc.inventise.ie\/business\/ccpc-opens-full-investigation-into-dalata-hotel-groups-proposed-acquisition-of-cg-hotels\/","title":{"rendered":"CCPC opens full investigation into Dalata Hotel Group\u2019s proposed acquisition of CG  Hotels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is to carry out a full Phase 2 investigation into the proposed purchase of CG Hotels Limited by DHGL Limited, an indirect subsidiary of Dalata Hotel Group plc.<\/p>\n<p>Dalata operates the Maldron Hotel Dublin Airport and the Clayton Hotel Dublin Airport. CG Hotels currently operates the Radisson Blu Hotel Dublin Airport. Should the transaction be implemented, Dalata would take over the operation of the Radisson Blu Hotel Dublin Airport.<\/p>\n<p>Under competition law, the CCPC must assess certain mergers and acquisitions in order<br \/>\nto prevent harmful effects on competition. In doing so, the CCPC considers the potential<br \/>\nimpact of mergers and acquisitions on consumers, such as changes to price, consumer<br \/>\nchoice, quality and innovation.<\/p>\n<p>Dalata has a portfolio of 32 hotels across the State including the \u2018Clayton\u2019 and \u2018Maldron\u2019<br \/>\nhotel brands, with most of its portfolio hotels operating under these brands. CG Hotels<br \/>\noperates the Radisson Blu Hotel Dublin Airport.<\/p>\n<p>This proposed transaction <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccpc.ie\/business\/mergers-acquisitions\/merger-notifications\/m-24-075-dalata-hotel-group-cg-hotels-radisson-blu-hotel-dublin-airport\/\">(M\/24\/075)<\/a> was notified to the CCPC on November 27, 2024.<br \/>\nFollowing a preliminary examination, the CCPC has decided an in-depth investigation is<br \/>\nneeded to establish whether or not the proposed transaction will result in a substantial<br \/>\nlessening of competition in the State.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who wishes to make a submission on the proposed deal is now encouraged to<br \/>\ncontact the CCPC. Submissions may be made by email to <a href=\"mailto:mergers@ccpc.ie\">mergers@ccpc.ie<\/a> by 4:30pm on<br \/>\n2 May 2025. When making a submission, you should identify any commercially sensitive<br \/>\ninformation or other confidential information contained in your submission. You can also<br \/>\nmake a request for anonymity (i.e. to protect your identity) where you consider that this is<br \/>\njustified. Anonymity requests and claims of confidentiality will be dealt with by the CCPC in accordance with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ccpc.ie\/business\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2023\/07\/CCPC-Access-to-the-File-Procedures.pdf\">CCPC\u2019s Access to the File Procedures<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As the investigation is ongoing, the CCPC is unable to share any further information.<\/p>\n<p>The CCPC is the statutory body responsible for enforcing and promoting compliance with<br \/>\ncompetition, consumer protection and product safety law in Ireland, with new and<br \/>\nexpanding roles in digital and data regulation.
