{"id":42398,"date":"2022-06-02T18:17:51","date_gmt":"2022-06-02T17:17:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ccpc.ie\/business\/?p=42398"},"modified":"2022-06-03T17:46:58","modified_gmt":"2022-06-03T16:46:58","slug":"ccpc-publishes-impact-assessment-report-2017-2020","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ccpc.inventise.ie\/business\/ccpc-publishes-impact-assessment-report-2017-2020\/","title":{"rendered":"CCPC publishes Impact Assessment Report 2017-2020"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has published a report that estimates the potential value to consumers of the organisation\u2019s competition enforcement and merger control work.<\/p>\n<p>As the statutory body responsible for promoting compliance with competition law in Ireland, the CCPC conducts investigations across all sectors of the economy and can take civil or criminal enforcement action if evidence of breaches of competition law are found.<\/p>\n<p>The report estimates the benefit from cases in which the CCPC took enforcement action, or where the merger control process resulted in changes to address competition concerns. The estimate does not include the \u2013 likely much larger \u2013 benefits from deterring breaches of competition law and of deterring companies from proposing anti-competitive mergers.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first study to estimate an aspect of the CCPC\u2019s impact.
