The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) welcomes the appointment by T\u00e1naiste & Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar, of \u00dana Butler as a Member of the CCPC.<\/p>\n
\u00dana brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, having served as the Director of Legal Services & General Counsel at the CCPC since 2014. During this time, she established the CCPC\u2019s Legal Services Division and oversaw legal advice across the CCPC\u2019s competition, consumer protection and product safety remit.<\/p>\n
Previously, \u00dana worked as a legal advisor in the Commission for Communications Regulation and as a lawyer in private practice, specialising in EU, competition and regulatory law. \u00dana holds a degree in Law and French from Trinity College Dublin, a Masters in European Law from the College of Europe in Bruges and a postgraduate diploma in Economics for Competition Law from King\u2019s College London.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the appointment, Jeremy Godfrey, Chairperson of the CCPC said:<\/p>\n

She will help lead the CCPC as we implement strengthened laws in the competition and consumer protection fields. \u00dana\u2019s impressive legal background and commitment to making markets work in the interests of consumers and society will be of great benefit to the CCPC in its work.<\/p>\n
