The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is the statutory body responsible for promoting compliance with, and enforcing, competition and consumer protection law in Ireland.<\/p>\n

The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment is currently drafting the Competition (Amendment) Bill 2021 which will transpose the Directive (EU) 2019\/1 (ECN+ Directive) and amend existing legislation not covered by the ECN+ Directive. This important legislation will expand the CCPC\u2019s power to enforce European and Irish competition law and introduce a number of other important changes to Irish competition law.<\/p>\n

The CCPC recognises that this legislation will have a significant impact on our work, and will also result in changes for businesses and their legal representatives. As a result, the CCPC is currently developing a series of draft policies and procedures relating to the operation of the ECN+ powers we expect to receive.<\/p>\n

The CCPC has written to stakeholders to inform them of our intention to hold a series of public consultations on these proposed new policies and procedures relating to ECN+. It is expected that the consultations will take place over the coming months, with each consultation period lasting a minimum of four weeks.<\/p>\n

When the Bill is published, the CCPC will publish a consultation schedule and the proposed policies on ccpc.ie<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
