The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has cleared, subject to binding commitments, the proposed acquisition of Exomex by Pandagreen. Exomex, which trades under the name \u2018McElvaney\u2019s Waste and Recycling\u2019, provides domestic, commercial and industrial waste collection services in Monaghan, Louth and Cavan.<\/p>\n
Following notification on 9 April 2021, the CCPC undertook an extended Phase 1 investigation to establish whether the proposed transaction would result in a substantial lessening of competition for goods or services in the State. This involved site visits, working with the parties along with extensive engagement with a number of third parties, including customers and competitors.<\/p>\n
During the investigation, the CCPC identified potential competition concerns in the commercial and industrial waste collection sector in Co. Louth should the proposed acquisition take place. <\/p>\n
Pandagreen submitted proposals to address these concerns including a commitment to divest certain Pandagreen commercial and industrial customers in Co. Louth to Thornton\u2019s Recycling. <\/p>\n
The CCPC is of the view that the commitments obtained from Pandagreen are appropriate and effective in addressing the identified competition concerns. These commitments form part of the CCPC\u2019s determination to clear the proposed transaction, which makes them legally binding on Pandagreen. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
