The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has published its Strategy Statement 2021-2023. This is the CCPC\u2019s third Strategy Statement since its establishment in 2014. It sets out at a high level our goals and priorities for the next three years.<\/p>\n

The new strategy, which takes effect from 1 January 2021, will drive the activities of the CCPC through three crucial years. During this time, important EU legislation will take effect which will have significant implications for the future of both competition and consumer protection law and their enforcement in Ireland. The organisation is set to grow and develop to deliver on increased legislative responsibilities including stronger measures to tackle white collar crime.<\/p>\n

This strategy draws on our experience and knowledge of emerging issues for consumers and markets and focuses on how the CCPC can achieve our vision of open and competitive markets where consumers are protected and businesses actively compete. An area of continued focus will be our ongoing response to the current Covid-19 pandemic, including our guidance to consumers and businesses on their rights and obligations through this time. In addition to this, we will continue to expand our operations to respond to the impact of Brexit on consumers, businesses and the CCPC\u2019s activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we published our last Strategy Statement in 2018, we could not have foreseen the circumstances in which we would be drawing up its successor. However, our current challenges have also provided significant opportunities to make a real difference through our engagement with consumers and businesses during these times. In developing this Strategy Statement, we have drawn on the ambition and experience of the CCPC as well as the insights and contributions of our stakeholders. The CCPC Strategy Statement 2021-2023 has a clear focus on delivering across our remit to fulfil our mission and our vision.\u201d<\/p>\n
