It is formally known as <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/?uri=CELEX%3A32019L0882\">Directive (EU) 2019\/882<\/a> on the Accessibility Requirements of Products and Services. In Ireland, the EAA was transposed into Irish law through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishstatutebook.ie\/eli\/2023\/si\/636\/made\/en\/print\">Statutory Instrument No. 636 of 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Aims of the EAA<\/h2>\n<p>Under the EAA, member states will follow a set of common accessibility requirements for the products and services covered by the Act. The EAA will establish one unified set of requirements, making it easier for private companies to sell compliant <a href=\"https:\/\/ccpc.inventise.ie\/business\/enforcement\/accessibility\/products-covered-by-the-european-accessibility-act\/\">products and services<\/a> in all areas of the EU.<\/p>\n<p>If you manufacture, import or distribute these products in Ireland, it\u2019s important for you to familiarise yourself with the EAA.<\/p>\n<h2>Benefits of the EAA<\/h2>\n<p>Businesses will benefit from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>reduced manufacturing costs due to common rules on accessibility in the EU<\/li>\n<li>easier cross-border trading<\/li>\n<li>more market opportunities for their accessible products and services<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to comply with the accessibility requirements<\/h2>\n<p>The European Accessibility Act does not set out exactly how businesses must comply with the accessibility requirements.
